Kimberley's Athlete Training Centre is a spacious, 5000 square foot modern facility designed for both able-bodied and disabled athlete training, as well as hosting a variety of sporting events. The Athlete Training Centre can be rented as a whole, or each room is available for rent. Individual rooms are as follows:

Entirely wheelchair accessible, The Athlete Training Centre designates Kimberley as the only place in North America where disabled athletes can train for all four winter disciplines - Nordic Skiing, Wheelchair Curling, Sledge Hockey, and Alpine Skiing.

FITNESS ROOM

Our private Fitness Room is made available to athletes in training, and is not available to the public. It may however be booked as an add-on for those who have booked part or all of the Conference Centre’s facilities. Designed to deliver unparalleled results, for first-time users and professional athletes alike, our array of Cybex strength and cardio machines, as well as free weights, are ideal for sport team training, conference delegate activities, and physical rehabilitation programs.

JERRY JOHNSON MEETING ROOM

From the main floor, a series of wheelchair friendly, glass encased ramps take you past several cosy alcoves and nooks to the floor above, where a fourth breakout space, the Jerry Johnston Room, looks out to the ski hill base and adjoins the athlete training facilities. Although one of the smaller breakout rooms, the Jerry Johnston room is our most popular, with its floor to ceiling windows looking out to the ski lift. This room was named in honour of a local Kimberley resident, and Founding President of the Canadian Association for Disabled Skiing, for his lifetime of dedication to disabled winter sports.

OFFICE/TESTING ROOM

The Athlete Training Centre Office/Testing Room is an office space that can be accessed from the side parking lot, allowing for easy loading in and out. It is complete with internet access and an ensuite washroom. It is ideal for performance-enhancing drug-testing or for use as an additional meeting room during large conventions.

WAX ROOM

The Wax Room contains exhaust vented waxing tables, and lockers for skis, snowboards, and sit skis. It can be accessed directly via an access ramp from the main quad chair. Wheelchair accessible, the Wax Room is located adjacent to accessible showers and washrooms.
